Macron Reveals His Candidate to Succeed Maduro in Leading Venezuela

Khaberni - French President Emmanuel Macron has called for a peaceful and democratic transition of power in Venezuela, stressing the importance of respecting the will of the Venezuelan people during this sensitive time.

Macron stated that he wishes for Edmundo Gonzalez Orotia to lead the political transition process as soon as possible, to ensure stability and avoid further disturbances in the country.

In the same context, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado considered the arrest of Maduro by the United States as the beginning of what she described as "the hour of freedom" for Venezuela, urging the national army to recognize Edmundo Gonzalez as the legitimate president of the country.

Edmundo Gonzalez is a Venezuelan politician, diplomat, and academic who previously worked in the Foreign Ministry and served as an ambassador for his country in several nations, before turning to academic work and participating in international conferences in the later stages of his career. He has been nominated by the main opposition coalition in Venezuela, known as the "Unified Democratic Alliance," to represent it in the 2024 elections.

Machado explained, according to media reports, that Maduro has refused all the negotiated solutions proposed for resolving the crisis, prompting the United States to implement what she described as "enforcement of the law."

She said: "The time has come for popular and national sovereignty to prevail in our country," asserting that Maduro faces international justice on the basis of what she described as serious crimes committed against the Venezuelan people.
