Khaberni - The Sudanese national team became the first to be eliminated from the African Nations Cup knockout stage, after their 1-3 loss against Senegal on Saturday in the opening round of the last 16 of the competition hosted by Morocco.
The "Jedian Falcons" could not maintain their lead with an early clean goal, conceding 3 goals that positioned Senegal as the first team to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.
Amer Abdullah opened the scoring for Sudan against the flow of play in the sixth minute, following a pass from Waleed Eldeen Khidir which Abdullah received in the penalty area and shot into the far corner of Senegal’s goal.
Senegal equalized through Pape Gueye in the 29th minute, after a splendid pass from Sadio Mane and a strike from outside the penalty area.
Gueye added his second goal in the third minute of added time for the first half, after another splendid pass from Nicolas Jackson.
Ibrahima Mbaye completed the trio for Senegal in the 77th minute, following a through-pass from Mane, allowing Mbaye to advance with the ball and powerfully shoot into the net.
Senegal will wait for the winner of the Mali and Tunisia match, which will be held later on Saturday.
