Khaberni - Years after the tragedy of her daughter's murder, Layla Ghafran returns to talk about an unhealing wound, confirming that human pain surpasses any judicial ruling.
The Moroccan artist Layla Ghafran has returned to reopen her wounds again, talking about the tragedy of her daughter Heba's murder, confirming that the pain still accompanies her despite the perpetrator being held accountable, and that the loss has left an indelible mark that cannot be overcome with time.
During a televised interview, Layla Ghafran explained that her daughter's departure created a deep void in her life, stating that a part of her has been forever broken, even though the killer was punished. She emphasized that human suffering cannot be measured by judgments or legal procedures.
She added that she rejects the idea of another person losing their life, emphasizing that what she lost cannot be replaced, her daughter will not return and she will not hold her in her arms again, which makes the pain ongoing no matter how much she tries to hold herself together.
Layla Ghafran pointed out that holding the perpetrator accountable was not enough to alleviate her psychological suffering, explaining that losing a daughter is a wound that does not heal, and accepting what happened is still extremely difficult despite the passing years.
The details of the tragedy date back to 2008, when Heba Al-Akkad was killed inside her apartment in the Sixth of October City in Egypt, by a young man who broke in with the intent of robbery, leading to her and her friend's death, an incident that shook the artistic community and the public at the time.
On the artistic front, Layla Ghafran is preparing to return to the music scene after years of absence, confirming that the upcoming stage will carry a different and more mature experience, influenced by the harsh pains she has endured, and indicating that the new year will be a new artistic beginning for her with a deeper human spirit.
