Shocking decision AlNassr Saudi freezes Semedos powers

Khaberni - Saudi media reported that the board of Al-Nassr company issued a majority decision that was shocking, according to the email that was officially sent to the club's department managers on Tuesday, just hours before the team's match against Al-Ettifaq.

The Riyadh newspaper clarified that the sent email stated "the freezing of the powers of the Portuguese CEO Semedo, in addition to withdrawing the financial disbursement powers from all individuals, and not accepting any requests for financial disbursement without the approval of the executive committee endorsed by the board."

It added, "Another email was sent from Mohammed Al-Skeet, the club's General Secretary, on Wednesday, emphasizing that all decisions and procedures in the coming period will be through him."

The club announced on July 17, last year the appointment of Semedo, 40 years old, as the acting CEO of the company.

Semedo became the fourth CEO of Al-Nassr company, after 75% of the club's ownership was transferred to the Public Investment Fund in the summer of 2023, and the position was previously held by Ahmed Al-Ghamdi, then the Italian Guido Venga, and later Majed Al-Jumaan.

Semedo retired in 2023, and began working at Al-Nassr in the same year, after he had been a member of the talent scouting administration before joining the technical committee.

Semedo was born on January 11, 1985, in Setubal, Portugal, and began his football career at an early age at the Sporting Lisbon academy, where he first met Cristiano Ronaldo and developed a close friendship.

The player owes much to his companion Ronaldo, who was a key reason in the continuation of his sports career after he was on the verge of leaving Sporting Lisbon, as the administration decided at that time to dispense with him before being surprised by a strong reaction from Ronaldo, who insisted on keeping his friend and succeeded in doing so, a situation that remained etched in Semedo's memory.
