Trump Explains Bruises on His Hand and Denies Sleeping During Events

Khaberni - American President Donald Trump explained the appearance of bruises on his hand by his intake of aspirin, and denied that he had succumbed to sleep during public meetings, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal published Thursday.

Trump (79 years old), during the interview, defended his health, retracting a previous statement about undergoing an MRI in October, stating instead that it was a CT scan.

The American president emphasized that his health is "excellent," expressing his dissatisfaction with the focus on his health condition.

Trump has built a significant part of his image on showcasing his vitality and activity, whether through his frequent interactions with journalists or posts on social media, or through artificially intelligent-generated images portraying him as a superhero.

However, questions are sometimes raised about his health after a year into his second presidential term.

On his right hand appeared bruises that are often covered with a thick layer of makeup and sometimes with a bandage, and his ankles seemed swollen.

During the interview, he clarified that the bruises on his hand are a result of the aspirin he takes daily to thin his blood.

At times, it was evident that Trump struggled to keep his eyes open, including during a televised meeting in the Oval Office with health officials in November.

However, he strongly denied any talk of succumbing to sleep at public events, saying "I was never one to enjoy sleep," and also explained that the moments when he appears to doze off are just moments of relaxation, in his words.

Trump has long described his Democratic predecessor Joe Biden as "sleepy," questioning his mental and physical capabilities. Biden left office a year ago at the age of 82, becoming the oldest American president in history. However, Trump is expected to surpass this age during his current term.
