Trump on taking aspirin I dont want thick blood flowing in my heart

Khaberni - US President Donald Trump said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that he takes a daily dose of aspirin larger than recommended by his doctors.

Trump told the newspaper in an interview published on Thursday, "They say aspirin is good for thinning the blood, and I don't want thick blood flowing in my heart. I want thin blood flowing in my heart."

Trump (79 years old) is the second oldest person to assume the presidency, after his Democratic predecessor Joe Biden, who stepped down from running for a second term in 2024 amidst questions about his fitness for office, being 82 years old when he left office a year ago.

The spotlight has been on Trump's health in recent months due to bruises observed on his hands and an MRI that he reportedly underwent in October, in addition to incidents where the Republican president closed his eyes during public events.

The Mayo Clinic states that daily use of aspirin may reduce the chances of a heart attack or stroke for people over 60, noting that the typical low dose of aspirin is generally 81 milligrams.

Dr. Sean Barbapella, the president's doctor, told the newspaper that Trump takes 325 milligrams of aspirin daily for heart disease prevention.

The White House says the MRI was preventative, and mentioned last December that the bruises were due to frequent handshaking.

When asked about the MRI, Trump and his doctor told the newspaper that the president had indeed undergone a CT scan.

Barbapella said that Trump's doctors initially said they would perform either an MRI or a CT scan, but they decided to do the latter "to definitively rule out any cardiovascular problems."

According to Barbapella, the examination revealed no problems.
