Khaberni - The snowstorm that struck Syria a few days ago exacerbated the humanitarian conditions in the displacement camps in the provinces of Idlib and Aleppo, northwest of Syria, where it led to the uprooting of tents in al-Tawhid camp on the Shamarin road.
In an immediate response after the accumulation of snow and the intensification of the cold, the Province of Aleppo announced an urgent mobilization in coordination with the relevant authorities in the Azaz area to respond to the calls for help from the people and provide urgent relief support to those affected.
In Idlib, the governor Muhammad Abdel Rahman conducted a field tour that included the camps of Kafr Lusin and Atma in the north of the province, in addition to visiting a bread oven and sites damaged by the storm, where work is underway to repair the damages and secure essential services.
The province also began preparations to launch a large humanitarian project aimed at preparing 1,000 tons of heating wood in preparation for its distribution to the inhabitants of the camps in rural Idlib, in an attempt to reduce the harshness of the cold during the winter season.
For its part, the Syrian Ministry of Emergencies clarified that the country will remain today, Thursday, January 1, 2026, under the influence of a low-pressure system accompanied by a polar air mass, with the continuation of weather events in the provinces of Idlib, the Syrian coast, and the Al-Jazeera region.
It should be noted that the storm has led to the closure of a number of main roads leading to the camps, which has increased the difficulty of accessing aid and the movement of residents.
