The year 2026 witnesses important, crucial, and unprecedented events, topped by the national football team's participation in the World Cup finals for the first time in its history, an unprecedented accomplishment, which makes the hearts of Jordanians travel to accompany the Nashama team in its global mission represented by participating in the World Cup to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada in the upcoming month of June.
Participation in the World Cup is the most important event for Jordanian sports in the new year, especially since the ceiling of ambitions and hopes has risen due to the significant development of the Nashama team.
In football also, the Olympic team begins its journey in the Asian Cup, which kicks off next week in Saudi Arabia, where the audience has high hopes for this participation following a series of achievements by the first team.
The new year witnesses many major sports milestones for Jordanian sports, including the participation of the national handball team, in the Asian Championship held in Kuwait, marking an important station for the handball team.
In basketball, the national team continues its efforts to qualify for the fourth time to the World Cup, and resumes in the upcoming month of February the competitions of the Asian championship qualifying for the World Cup, where the team plays two matches during the month of February against the teams of Iran and Iraq, scheduled to be held in Beirut.
The participations of the karate and taekwondo national teams in many world championships are important milestones for Jordanian sports in the new year, especially as the taekwondo and karate teams are among the best teams in Asia and the world, through notable results in all participations leading to podiums and winning medals.
Ziad Akoubeh, the Jordanian football expert, local referee, and international and Asian lecturer, affirms that the national teams in all sports are looking forward to important international participations in the new year, but the most important is the Nashama team’s participation in the World Cup.
Akoubeh told Petra that the Nashama team leads the scene, and that all Jordanians and Arab brothers eagerly await this historic Jordanian participation in the World Cup.
In turn, the media spokesperson for the Taekwondo Federation, Faisal Al-Abdallat, said that the national taekwondo teams have important obligations throughout the year, expressing his confidence in the ability of Jordanian taekwondo to make 2026 full of achievements, as has been the case in previous years.
Sports fan Maher Musa said that despite his love for following sports achievements in various games, this year will not be similar to previous years, and the focus will be on the Nashama in the World Cup. He added that there are many obligations for the national teams this year, which we will follow eagerly to support the players, but the greater passion will be in following the Nashama team in the World Cup.
