Former Premier League Champion on the Brink of Relegation to the Third Tier

Khaberni  - Leicester City, which plays in the English second division for football, and the English Football League announced last Wednesday that the club lost its appeal against the decision to deduct six points in a severe blow to its efforts to avoid relegation again.

The club is currently in the 22nd position in the second division, only one point above the safety zone, and faces relegation to the third division unless it can improve its standards in the last five matches of the season.

Six points were deducted from Leicester's tally earlier this year due to violations of the strict profitability and sustainability rules governing spending in the English league tiers.

The Premier League association, which began the investigation, stated in a release: "An independent appeal committee upheld the decision of an independent committee to recommend deducting six points from the football season tally of Leicester City this season."

Leicester accepted this decision.

The club added: "Now that this case has concluded with five matches left in the season, everyone at the club is fully focused on the upcoming matches and on determining the fate of our season through our results on the field."

Leicester will host Swansea City next Saturday.

Leicester amazed the football world by winning the Premier League a decade ago against all expectations, but it was relegated to the second division last season.
