His heart isnt functioning Roberto Carlos undergoes surgery

Khaberni - Media reports in Spain indicate that Roberto Carlos, the former Brazilian national team defender, is on his way to recovery after undergoing heart surgery.

The newspaper As reported that the former Real Madrid player, aged 52, was hospitalized in his home country during a vacation after initially going for a check-up concerning a blood clot in his leg.

It was reported that a full-body MRI scan revealed that his heart was not functioning properly, and he subsequently underwent surgery to install a catheter.

Reports quote Roberto Carlos as saying he is "fine" after the surgery, but he added that he is still under close observation.

The British news agency "PA Media" reported that Carlos joined Real Madrid from Inter Milan in 1996 and stayed with Real until 2007, and was part of the original "Galacticos" team, which also included the Brazilian Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, and David Beckham.

Carlos won three Champions League titles with Real and four Spanish league titles, in addition to winning the World Cup with the Brazil national team in 2002.
