Injury deprives Dutch star Simons of the World Cup

Khaberni  - Tottenham Hotspur, a contender in the English Premier League, confirmed on Monday that their Dutch star Xavi Simons will need to undergo surgery on his right knee after suffering a severe injury.

Simons was injured last Saturday during Tottenham's 1-0 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers and left the field on a stretcher in the 63rd minute.

Tottenham Club stated in a press release published on their website, "Xavi will undergo surgery in the coming weeks after suffering a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee, after which his rehabilitation with our medical team will begin."

For his part, Xavi Simons expressed his deep sadness after it was confirmed that he would be absent from the fields until the end of the current season, and the loss of his dream to represent the Dutch national team in the 2026 World Cup finals.

The 23-year-old player wrote on his Instagram account: "They say life can be tough and today I really feel it, my season has ended abruptly and I'm trying to comprehend that."

Simons, who joined Tottenham for £52 million added, "Honestly, I am heartbroken, nothing makes sense right now, all I wanted was to fight for my team, but this ability has been taken from me along with my World Cup dream."

Despite the bitterness of the situation, Simons sent an optimistic message to his teammates at Tottenham, which faces the specter of relegation for the first time in 49 years, saying, "I have no doubt that we will win this battle together, I will walk this path guided by faith, strength, and resilience, be patient with me."
