Independent Election Comments on State Audit Department Report on Parties

Khaberni - The Independent Election Commission clarified the content of the State Audit Department's report for 2024 on political parties, noting that it followed the media discussions regarding the financial situations of several political parties.

The Commission confirmed that the financial audit conducted by the State Audit Department on the political parties was carried out upon an official request from the Independent Election Commission, wherein the Political Parties Law in Article (29) grants the right to the Board of Commissioners or their delegate, and the State Audit Department was delegated for this purpose.

It mentioned that the observations in the State Audit Department's report were addressed by the Commission in accordance with the provisions of the Political Parties Law and related regulations and instructions, where necessary legal actions were taken depending on the nature of each case.

It indicated that financing was halted for political parties that had received governmental financial support and were found to have discrepancies, pending the correction of their situations.

It also noted that the Board of Commissioners has filed a lawsuit to dissolve two parties for their failure to submit the annual financial budget of the party, and the legal procedures and deadlines related to this are still pending before the court.

The Independent Election Commission also confirmed that the majority of the parties were compliant with the legislative provisions governing their operations, and a few parties that were non-compliant subsequently corrected their situations before the release of the State Audit Department's report.
