Chinese Measures Against USTaiwan Arms Deal

Khaberni China has announced countermeasures against an arms deal from the United States to the Chinese region of Taiwan.

China has decided to take countermeasures against some American companies linked to the military and their senior executives, based on Articles 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 15 of the People's Republic of China Law on Countering Foreign Sanctions, according to a decision published on the Chinese Foreign Ministry website.

The decision includes 20 companies and 10 senior executives, freezing their properties and assets within China and banning any cooperation or transactions with them, in addition to denying executives visas and entry to the country

The United States has recently announced massive arms sales to the Chinese region of Taiwan, which is considered a flagrant violation of the One China principle and the three joint communiqués between China and the United States, interfering in China's internal affairs and undermining its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

A spokesperson from the Foreign Ministry stated that the Taiwan issue lies at the core of China's vital interests and is the primary red line that should not be crossed in China-U.S. relations. Anyone attempting to cross this line and provoke on this issue will face a firm response from China. No country or power should underestimate the determination, will, and capacity of the Chinese government and people to protect national sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

China once again urges the United States to adhere to the One China principle and the three joint communiqués between China and the U.S., to act according to the commitments of the American president, to stop the dangerous movements represented by arming Taiwan, to cease undermining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, and to stop sending wrong signals to the separatist forces seeking so-called "Taiwan independence". China will continue to take firm measures to strongly defend its national sovereignty, security, unity, and territorial integrity

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the National People's Congress Foreign Affairs Committee referred to this law passed by the U.S. Congress which was signed into force, expressing China's strong dissatisfaction and opposition to the negative content targeting China in this law. The spokesperson criticized the law for continuing to use the usual tone of containing China, exaggerating the so-called "Chinese threat", blatantly interfering in China’s internal affairs, and undermining China's core interests.

China has called on the U.S. side to view Chinese development and China-U.S. relations objectively and rationally, to work with China in the same direction, and to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries at the Busan meeting. China strongly urges the U.S. to abandon the zero-sum mentality and ideological bias, and refrain from implementing the negative provisions related to China in a U.S. defense policy law. Should the U.S. persist in acting unilaterally, China will take strong actions in accordance with the law to protect its national sovereignty, security, and developmental interests firmly.

In turn, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense stated that Taiwan is an integral part of China's territory, and the People's Liberation Army will not stop its efforts to combat separatist activities and promote national reunification. In response to every provocation for the so-called "independence of Taiwan," it will intensify its pressures further until the reunification of the motherland is fully achieved. China will continue to strive for peaceful reunification with the utmost sincerity and effort, but will never promise to renounce the use of force, retaining the right to take all necessary measures.
