Khaberni - Lenovo continues to push the boundaries of innovation in the world of laptops, nearing the unveiling of a new generation of devices with stretchable screens, in a move that reflects the company's clear bet on this type of futuristic design.
According to "Windows Latest," Lenovo is preparing to showcase a new device named ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept PC at CES 2026 in January next year, after having unveiled the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable AI PC at CES 2025, and released it commercially last June.
The screen extends vertically
The new device comes with a familiar concept but with bolder implementation.
In its standard mode, it features a 13.3-inch screen that can be extended vertically to transform into a larger 16-inch workspace, offering greater flexibility for the user in working and multitasking.
The strangest design: The screen wraps backward
What’s striking in this new concept is how Lenovo deals with the foldable screen.
Instead of relying on a traditional metal or plastic frame, the company uses a transparent glass back interface, which reveals the mechanism of the flexible screen wrapping when not in use.
Although this design leaves part of the screen perpetually exposed, reports indicate that "Lenovo" collaborated with "Corning" to use a protective layer of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 at a 180-degree angle, to reduce damage risks.
Smart external screen and artificial intelligence
According to leaks, "Lenovo" plans to use the external surface of the screen to display information from the internal screen, in what sources describe as a step towards a new generation of "contextual smart devices."
As usual, artificial intelligence plays a pivotal role in the experience, where it is expected to support features such as instant translation, a smart voice assistant, along with multiple control methods including touch, gestures, and voice commands to operate applications or change usage modes.
Experimental product
Although it is not yet confirmed whether this device will become an actual commercial product, Lenovo’s message is clear: the company is committed to exploring the utmost possibilities of laptop screens, both in terms of form and usage style.
In a market experiencing increasingly similar devices, these bold designs may be the card that Lenovo bets on to stand out in the coming years.
