Khaberni - The head of Bani Obeid municipality, engineer Manar Rdaideh, said that the municipality has referred the owner of a commercial shop in Al-Hisn area to the administrative governor, for closing three lines of a stormwater discharge culvert with concrete.
She added that the closing of the culvert, located between the signals of Dhofar Mosque and Al-Hisn camp, constitutes a serious and major violation of the effective instructions and regulations, as it has led to a significant rise in the water level at the site; causing disruptions in traffic movement and severe traffic congestion, especially since the road is vital and experiences heavy traffic throughout the day, according to Petra.
She indicated that the shop owner has been referred to the administrative governor to take the necessary legal measures against him, to ensure such actions that harm the public interest and disrupt citizens’ lives do not recur.
Rdaideh clarified that the municipality has tasked an official contractor to open the three stormwater discharge culvert lines that were completely closed, stating that the water suction process from the area alone was not an effective solution to the problem.
She confirmed that there are currently no road closures, and that traffic movement is flowing normally at the site, urging citizens to exercise caution and care while driving through the area.
