While the Gulf Cooperation Council strongly condemned and denounced Israel's occupation forces' recognition of what is called the Somaliland region, Jassim Al-Badiwi, the Secretary-General for the Council's states confirmed that this action constitutes a serious overstep of international law principles, and a clear violation of the Federal Republic of Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Undermining Stability in the Horn of Africa
In the same context, he emphasized that this recognition represents a dangerous precedent that could undermine the pillars of stability in the Horn of Africa region, and pave the way for further tensions and conflicts, conflicting with regional and international efforts aimed at enhancing security and international peace in the region.
Gulf Solidarity
Al-Badiwi reiterated the conclusions stated in the final communiqué issued by the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council at its 164th session, affirming the Council's states' support for the Federal Republic of Somalia in everything likely to bolster its security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial unity, thereby achieving a dignified life for its brotherly people.
Gulf Calls
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council called on the international community to reject the Israeli action targeting to undermine international legitimacy and impose political realities contrary to the international consensus and United Nations resolutions, and not to recognize any entities or actions that could destabilize states' security or harm their national unity.
