Khaberni - The famous Iranian actress Taraneh Alidoosti has announced her retirement from acting in protest against the mandatory hijab law in the country.
Alidoosti told director Bezhad Ahangarani in a documentary about her life: "I will not act in any films while I am wearing the hijab, under any circumstance."
Alidoosti stated that she "will not act in any Iranian film wearing the hijab again," emphasizing that she "does not regret this decision."
Alidoosti, who has worked for over two decades and achieved many successes, mentioned that she will dedicate her time to other activities as long as the hijab law remains enforced.
Alidoosti described the September 2022 protests led by women in Iran as a social explosion, in which the nation demanded an end to the mandatory hijab law.
Since then, she noted that appearing in films while wearing the hijab would be a "farce" she refuses to support.
It is worth mentioning that the Iranian actress Taraneh Alidoosti was arrested in December 2022 in connection with the protest movement, after which the Iranian authorities released her on January 4.
