Khaberni - The Ministry of Education and Education has decided to adjust the school fees collected from non-Jordanian students in public schools to be 300 JOD per semester starting from February 1, 2026.
The decision excludes student groups in grades one through six, children of Jordanian women married to non-Jordanians, children of the Gaza Strip residents in the Kingdom, and students registered with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, noting that students who qualify as refugees but are not registered with the Commission can benefit from reduced fees if they register with the Commission.
The decision includes about 15,000 students and will allow the collection of 9 million JOD annually from the included students (30% less than their actual cost), which will be directed to the Ministry of Education to improve the level of education in public schools.
The number of non-Jordanian students studying in public schools from various nationalities is estimated at about 48,000 students, and the financial cost of their education in public schools is more than 38 million JOD annually.
According to the new principles, the actual costs of educating non-Jordanian students in public schools will be collected as decided by the specialized committees in the Ministry of Education.
The Cabinet has approved the bases related to determining the school fees for non-Jordanian students and has decided to collect the actual cost of their education in public schools, based on a recommendation from the Minister of Education.
According to the amendment, the financial cost for each semester for a non-Jordanian student not belonging to the exempted categories mentioned above is 300 JOD for all secondary academic education tracks, and basic education from the seventh to the tenth grade, in addition to vocational and technical education, while school education is free for Jordanian students.
