Khaberni - Zarqa Municipality announced that the Public Health Department has carried out intensive monitoring rounds at scrap shops within the municipal boundaries, in the context of monitoring the phenomenon of theft of stormwater drainage manholes owned by the municipality, which were recently noted to be missing.
The patrols revealed that some thieves have been selling the stolen manholes to these shops, constituting an assault on public property and threatening public safety.
On 22/12/2025, the legal department of the municipality, under the directives of the honorable chairperson of the municipal committee, filed legal complaints against everyone proven to be involved in the theft, possession, or purchase of these manholes, knowing their illicit origin.
The municipality confirmed that these measures are part of its commitment to protecting public funds and enforcing the law, urging scrap shop owners to adhere to the laws and report any materials suspected to be stolen.
