Minister of Agriculture Imported olive oil will be available in the markets within a maximum of 10 days

Minister of Agriculture Saeb Khreisat said that imported olive oil will be available in the markets of both the military and civilian institutions and local markets within a week to 10 days.

In statements to "Al-Mamlaka" TV, the minister said that the prices of imported olive oil would range between 5 dinars and 5.5 dinars per kilogram, explaining that most of it will be from Tunisia, while other quantities will be imported from Spain.

Khreisat confirmed that the oil shipments have passed the accredited laboratory tests and have been granted certificates of origin, pointing out that they will be subjected to further inspections upon arrival.

He said that the imported varieties will be of high quality (extra virgin from the 2025 production).

In earlier statements, the minister said that the ministry had resorted to opening the door for the import of olive oil to address the deficit of the olive season and to reduce the burden on the citizens.

According to a previous statement by the ministry, the import process is carried out only from member countries of the International Olive Council, in compliance with international standards and to ensure the quality of the imported product.

The ministry published a set of guidelines related to the import of olive oil, among which is the requirement to submit a judicial pledge valued at (25,000) Jordanian dinars that the shipment will not be sold outside the Jordanian markets.

The pledge instructions also stipulate the necessity of adhering to not mixing or repackaging the oil for distribution in the local market or for re-export.
