AlMafraq 458 Water Harvesting Wells Dug

The Ministry of Agriculture, through the Directorate of Agriculture, has implemented 458 water harvesting wells since the beginning of this year within two projects: household gardens within the zoning limits and agricultural reclamation outside the zoning limits.

Dr. Inaam Al-Mashaqbeh, Director of Agriculture in Al-Mafraq, said that the implementation of these wells was distributed across the regions of Al-Mafraq governorate with a total cost of 687 thousand dinars and a storage capacity of 13,740 cubic meters, noting that the implementation of water harvesting wells as part of the household gardens and agricultural reclamation projects is expected to positively reflect on encouraging agricultural activities in small areas, in addition to empowering benefiting families to utilize these wells in starting home agricultural projects.

She added to the Jordanian News Agency (Petra) today, Sunday, that this year, through the Women's Empowerment Division, 199 benefiting families were included in income-generating projects, involving 27 plastic houses, 82 dairy workshops, and 55 production kitchens, in addition to 35 food processing projects, noting that the implementation of these projects was in accordance with the terms and standards of the Ministry of Agriculture.

She explained that part of the allocations for water harvesting wells and grants for poor families were financed through the allocations of Al-Mafraq Governorate Council within the framework of institutional cooperation and integration, aiming to serve and develop the agricultural sector in all its components in Al-Mafraq governorate.
