Algerian artist Amal Bouchoucha returns to Egyptian drama after a 7-year absence through the series "Children of the Shepherd", scheduled to be shown in the Ramadan 2026 season, in a return she describes as nostalgic and a different experience from her previous ones.
In the series, Bouchoucha portrays the character "Habiba", alongside the actor Majed El Masri, within a drama being prepared to be strongly present in the upcoming Ramadan race.
This participation comes after her last appearance on the Egyptian screen in the series "Abu Omar Al Masry" in 2019, which was one of her most prominent artistic milestones.
Despite her recent absence from participating in Egyptian drama, Bouchoucha has not stopped visiting Egypt, as she attended a number of artistic events, including the Cairo and El Gouna festivals, but she asserts that this return is different, being a full return through a comprehensive dramatic work, rather than a fleeting appearance.
Regarding the series, Bouchoucha expressed her great confidence in the project and the team, noting that "Children of the Shepherd" includes a group of experienced names in terms of screenplay, direction, and acting, which gives her a sense of responsibility to deliver her role with the utmost sincerity.
The series witnesses a dramatic duo that brings her together with Majed El Masri, who continues his presence in Ramadan drama after a series of successes, and he expresses his special connection to the Ramadan season, considering that the work environment and surrounding indicators are optimistic.
As for the performance, Bouchoucha points out that the Egyptian dialect represents a real challenge for her, contrary to what is popularly assumed, explaining that mastering it without appearing alien requires time, effort, and focus, especially considering she has been living in Lebanon for over 16 years and is accustomed to working in Syrian and joint Arab dramas.
Away from the camera, Bouchoucha does not hide the difficulty of being away from her family during shooting outside Lebanon, but she deals with it realistically, benefiting from the proximity between Beirut and Cairo, which allows her to travel continuously between the two countries.
