Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Ya'rab Al-Qadi confirmed that the coming year 2026 will be a turning point in trade relations between Jordan and the United States.
During the annual event hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, representing the Prime Minister, to review the achievements of 2025 under the slogan "Connecting Business, Creating Opportunities, and Promoting Growth," he stated that 2026 would witness a strong boost in trade relations between Jordan and America, concerning both Jordan's imports and exports to the American market.
Al-Qadi emphasized the importance of enhancing economic cooperation between Jordan and the United States, and the vital role of the private sector in driving sustainable growth and investment.
He noted that Jordan also believes in trade agreements and highly values the long-term relationship and partnership with the United States, describing it as strong, robust, and deep, which will continue in various fields.
Al-Qadi mentioned that Jordan's imports from the United States were only $400 million before the signing of the free trade agreement, while Jordanian exports to the United States reached $3 billion last year, up from $60 million before the agreement.
He pointed out the enormous growth in the Kingdom's imports from the United States during the past nine months of this year, where their value rose to 1.252 billion dinars, compared to 945 million dinars for the same period from 2024.
During the ceremony attended by a crowd of invitees, strategic partners of the chamber, and member companies, he said the government is focusing through its decisions and plans on enhancing the role of the Jordanian private sector and empowering it.
Al-Qadi noted that the importance of trade relations between the two countries is not limited to Jordan and the United States but also includes opportunities in the region. There are tremendous opportunities involving the reconstruction of Syria, requiring the establishment of joint projects and making the Kingdom a hub for launching reconstruction projects in Syria.
Meanwhile, the US Ambassador to Jordan, Jim Holtsnaider, pointed to the growing partnership between the embassy and the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, highlighting its role in ensuring the enhancement and expansion of trade relations between the United States and Jordan.
He stated, "We are working to support American businesses in Jordan. Jordan and the United States can and will exchange trade, grow together, and prosper together."
In turn, the chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, Samer Jouda, affirmed the chamber's commitment to enhancing economic relations between the United States and Jordan, stating that 2025 represents a significant milestone in enhancing the economic partnership between the two countries.
He mentioned that based on the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II and his directives to promote stability and economic growth, the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan has focused on enabling companies to expand and access new markets, enhancing connections that support our bilateral economic relationship.
He added, "We are proud to work with our partners in the government, the US embassy, and the business community to achieve shared priorities and advance trade and investment opportunities. As the new year approaches, our commitment remains clear: to continue opening horizons, offering enabling services to our members, and supporting their growth and development."
Meanwhile, the CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, Raghad Al-Khoja, reviewed the chamber's most important achievements during the past year, including new initiatives and programs designed to enhance trade and investment opportunities, bridge gaps in the business environment, support innovation, and establish effective communication channels that support tangible economic growth.
It should be noted that the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan is a non-profit, membership-based organization, which includes 250 members, including leading Jordanian and American companies. Over the past 25 years, the chamber has played a pivotal role in driving sustainable economic development in Jordan by enhancing trade and investment relations between Jordan and the United States, advocating policies, and developing human resources.
