The Director of Meteorology, Raed Rafid Al-Khattab, said that weather forecasts indicate that the country will not be affected by any rainy conditions during the next week until Thursday, December 25. He explained that temperatures will experience slightly limited rise, but the weather will remain cold in general, especially during the early morning hours and night.
Al-Khattab added that the continued effect of the cold air masses will keep the feeling of coldness in place, despite the expected relative improvement in temperatures during the daylight hours.
He mentioned that the easterly winds will prevail in the coming days, which will increase the feeling of cold, noting that they will gradually shift to westerly winds after the middle of the week.
The Director of Meteorology warned that the period extending from Saturday, December 20 to Thursday, December 25, might see fog formation this Friday and tomorrow Saturday, especially over the high mountainous elevations and parts of the plains, in addition to frost formation on some days particularly in the desert areas and southern highlands due to the surface temperatures dropping to below zero Celsius occasionally, urging caution, especially during late night and early morning hours.
As for the last week of December and the end of the current year, Al-Khattab clarified that initial indicators show a change in the weather conditions at the end of the last week, with the possibility of the country being affected by a weather depression. He confirmed that the media and the public would be provided with details later as the date of the condition approaches and more accurate meteorological data becomes available.
