What our national team has achieved in recent years is considered a historical achievement by all measures; qualifying for the World Cup, runner-up in the Asian Cup, and runner-up in the Arab Cup, are honorable milestones that are credited to this generation which has presented a dignified image of Jordanian football and raised the nation's name high in continental and international forums.
Firstly, it is necessary to emphasize our great respect for this wonderful generation of players, and for the technical and administrative staff, and everyone who contributed to these successes that have pleased the Jordanian sports street.
However, at the same time, talking about these achievements must be accompanied by a realistic and responsible discussion about the future of Jordanian football, and how to ensure the continuation of these successes, and prevent the national team from becoming a temporary phenomenon or a “leap” related to a specific generation.
The sustainability of achievements starts at the base, and the true foundation of football is the clubs, especially the youth categories. Teams are not built overnight, but are the product of years of work, foundation, and proper progression within the clubs.
Through experience, it is clear to point out Al-Jazeera Club as a live model of this approach, where it has been and continues to be one of the clubs that has directly contributed to supplying the national teams with remarkable players. A number of current national team players were nurtured at Al-Jazeera Club, progressed from the youth teams to the first team, before reaching the national team, which confirms the importance of correct building and long-term work.
Talking about club development cannot be done without addressing the issue of support, as supporting clubs is a necessity at this stage, but at the same time, it should not be a permanent solution. The future requires the transformation of clubs into institutions capable of investing and sustainability, so they can continue financially and technically, and develop their infrastructure, age categories, and technical staff.
This transformation towards investment cannot be achieved by the clubs alone; it needs real support from decision-makers, through clear legislation, incentives, and an attractive investment environment, enabling clubs to operate professionally and steadily.
Maintaining the path of this generation and ensuring the ongoing success of the national team starts from strong, stable, and qualified clubs, because teams are built from clubs, and not the other way around.
If we want to continuously celebrate achievements in the future, we need to start today with a real investment in clubs and their youth categories, so that Jordanian football remains on the right path.
