Khaberni - Environment Minister Ayman Suleiman stated that work has begun on preparing a national executive program to reduce the phenomenon of random waste dumping, as part of a comprehensive government framework targeting the improvement of general cleanliness, environmental protection, and health across all provinces of the kingdom.

Suleiman added, on Thursday, that the program focuses on developing the infrastructure for waste management through increasing the number of containers and improving the mechanisms of waste collection and transportation, which contributes to enhancing the efficiency of the services provided to citizens and reducing negative environmental practices, according to the kingdom.

He mentioned that the government is studying the possibility of involving the private sector in the waste management sector.

The Minister emphasized that the executive program comes as part of an integrated vision to address the issue of random waste dumping and to elevate the level of general cleanliness, which positively reflects on public health, the quality of life, and the environment in various regions of the kingdom.

The Prime Minister, Jafar Hassan, on Wednesday at the Prime Minister's office, chaired the first meeting of the preparatory committee for the development of the executive program to reduce random waste dumping.

The Prime Minister emphasized during the meeting that behaviors associated with random waste dumping are unacceptable and must not be left without deterrence, stressing that maintaining general cleanliness is a shared responsibility between institutions and citizens.

The Prime Minister also directed to intensify the role of municipalities and ministries and the Greater Amman Municipality in monitoring random waste dumping and construction and building debris, ensuring their proper disposal, and addressing any violations without hesitation, pointing out the importance of including electronic monitoring as a fundamental part of the system for preserving the environment and general cleanliness.
