Trump Showcases His Achievements in 20 Minutes

Khaberni - In a rare evening address from the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump boasted yesterday, Wednesday, about his achievements and blamed his predecessor for the rising consumer prices, as his party prepares for challenging midterm elections next year.

Trump said, in a speech that lasted less than 20 minutes and was delivered at a brisk pace, "11 months ago, I inherited a mess and I am working on fixing it."

The Republican president, who often complains about the lack of appreciation for his achievements, offered few new policy initiatives to deal with the high costs. Instead, he blamed former President Joe Biden, old trade agreements, immigrants, and what he described as the corrupt system.

Trump praised the work of his administration this year on a range of issues, from reducing the number of border crossings to lowering the prices of some goods.

Trump announced that his administration would send "warrior distributions" valued at $1776 to a total of 1.45 million American soldiers next week. He also supported a Republican proposal to distribute cash directly to the public to offset the cost of health insurance, instead of providing support through the Affordable Care Act, a proposal that has not yet received sufficient support in Congress.

The speech offered the president an opportunity to address people's concerns about affordability, an issue Trump repeatedly described as a scare tactic by the Democratic Party. While blaming the Biden presidency, Trump acknowledged that prices remain high, but indicated that the nation is "gearing up" for economic prosperity.

Republicans are working to maintain their control over both the House and the Senate in the elections scheduled for November of next year, while Democrats focus on concerns about affordability and disagreements over healthcare policy in an attempt to seize power.

The high inflation during the four years Biden spent in office supported Trump, helping him defeat former Vice President Kamala Harris in last year's election. However, Trump's tariff policies this year have created uncertainty and raised prices.

A new survey conducted by Reuters/Ipsos, the day before yesterday, Tuesday, showed that only 33% of American adults approve of the way Trump is handling the economy.
