Khaberni - The official spokesperson for the Saudi Geological Survey, Tariq Aba Al-Khail, clarified that the earthquake recorded by the stations of the National Seismic Monitoring Network in the Eastern region occurred at exactly 1:11 AM on Wednesday, Saudi Arabia time, at the coordinates latitude (24.1323) north and longitude (49.1572) east.
He explained that the earthquake had a magnitude of (4) on the Richter scale, at a depth of about (8) km, and did not cause any damage due to its weak seismic strength. He indicated that the causes of this earthquake are due to the tectonic pressures resulting from the collision of the Arabian Peninsula geological plate and the Eurasian geological plate at the Zagros Mountains area in Iran, which led to the activation of existing faults in the Earth's crust in the Eastern region of the Kingdom, causing this earthquake.
