Khaberni - Khaberni - Abu Dhabi Police have warned the public about the spread of some uncertified QR code stickers in certain places, pointing out that these stickers might be used in electronic fraud operations aimed at stealing users' banking and personal data.
They confirmed that some fraudsters deliberately place fake stickers resembling official codes on payment devices at certain locations or on information boards, directing users to fake websites asking for card details or personal information, which exposes them to the risk of hacking and financial fraud.
Abu Dhabi Police emphasized the necessity of making payments only through official certified applications or trusted governmental channels, and not to scan any QR codes that are unclear in source or not listed on official boards.
They also urged the public to verify the name of the operator before completing any payment transaction, not to enter any banking data through untrustworthy links, and to immediately report any suspicious stickers or fraud attempts through official channels.
Abu Dhabi Police confirmed their ongoing efforts to enhance community awareness and combat cybercrime, calling on everyone to cooperate and report them to safeguard the safety of the community and its digital security.
