Khaberni - The Kingdom won the presidency of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) unanimously for the third consecutive term, with Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Harthy, the president of the Saudi Media Forum, being elected as the Union’s president, which includes all broadcasting and television bodies in the Arab world.
The consensus from the countries on electing the Kingdom reaffirms its leading position and pivotal role in supporting joint Arab media efforts.
This decision comes in appreciation of the efforts made by Al-Harthy during his previous presidency of the Union, and the period experienced several quality initiatives that have contributed to the development of Arab broadcasting and television work, and enhanced coordination and integration between the media institutions of the member countries.
The Kingdom's presidency of the Union reflects its ongoing interest in Arab media, its commitment to unify media efforts, and build a shared Arab media system capable of keeping up with rapid changes, achieving strategic goals that serve Arab issues, and enhancing the presence of Arab media regionally and internationally.
Union President Mohammed Al-Harthy offered his thanks and appreciation to the wise leadership, may God protect it, for the support and empowerment it provides to the media and journalists, expressing his gratitude to His Excellency the Minister of Information, Professor Salman bin Yousuf Al-Dosari, for his continuous support for the Union's efforts, and his commitment to enabling shared Arab media initiatives, and enhancing the Kingdom’s presence in regional and international media organizations.
Al-Harthy affirmed that renewing trust in the Kingdom to preside over the Arab States Broadcasting Union for the third consecutive time reflects the status that Saudi media enjoys and confirms the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting joint Arab media work, developing its tools, and unifying its message to serve the aspirations of the Arab people.
He indicated that the coming phase would witness more joint work to develop media content, invest in Arab talents, and enhance cooperation between media institutions, keeping pace with global changes and elevating the Arab media landscape.
This extension confirms the leadership role that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plays in supporting the journey of Arab media, enhancing its institutional presence, and consolidating joint media work in line with the aspirations of this phase, and serving the shared Arab media interests.
