Khaberni - In a tragic incident, a 4-year-old child was violently attacked by two dogs while standing with his mother waiting for the school bus in Jacksonville, Florida, resulting in the loss of his left ear after days of receiving treatment in the hospital.
According to a police report issued by the Jacksonville mayor's office, the incident occurred when the mother, Tracy Moore, was standing outside their home with her son Roland before two dogs described initially by the police as "friendly" approached them.
Reports indicate that the mother and her child were petting the dogs before one of them suddenly attacked the child and bit his left ear, according to "People" magazine.
A dangling ear
The officer who arrived at the scene noted that the child's ear was hanging by the side of his head upon his arrival, while the police explained that the mother tried to protect her son but was also attacked, sustaining minor injuries from the brown dog that bit her and her child.
The mother, in statements published on a fundraising campaign she launched on "GoFundMe," said that the attack occurred while they were waiting for the school bus, noting that her child spent an entire week in the hospital before the doctors eventually decided to amputate the injured ear.
The mother reported that the authorities later killed the two dogs, confirming that she is currently trying to raise donations to cover the medical and legal expenses resulting from the incident.
