Khaberni - The match between the Saudi team and its Jordanian counterpart in the 2025 Arab Cup witnessed a controversial refereeing decision.
The Jordanian team beat its Saudi counterpart 1-0, Monday, in the semi-finals of the Arab Cup 2025, setting up a meeting with Morocco in the final.
The referee denied the "Green" players' request for a penalty kick, arguing that the ball touched a Jordanian player's hand inside the box while on its way out of the field.
However, according to what was confirmed by refereeing expert Amin Barkallah, in press statements, the referee's decision was correct, and there was no penalty.
He explained: "The understanding of football here grants the referee the right to interpret the scene and the trajectory and direction of the ball, which touched the defender's hand under extreme circumstances."
He concluded: "The ball was going to go out without having any impact or effect on the Saudi team's ability to play the ball or benefit from it in the future."
It is worth mentioning that the "Nashama" team qualified for the final for the first time in its history, and will meet the Moroccan team on December 18, in the Lusail Stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha.
