Khaberni - The Moroccan and Arab audience is eagerly awaiting the premiere of the series "The Peak of the Mountain", the Moroccan version adapted from the famous Syrian-Lebanese work "The Prestige", which achieved widespread success over five seasons since its debut in 2017, before a Turkish version titled "The Distant City" was later released.
The project is part of a wave of Arabic drama adaptations, which aim to re-present successful works with local drafts that consider the social and cultural specificities of each country.
Official filming of "The Peak of the Mountain" begins
The start of filming for the series "The Peak of the Mountain" has been officially announced, in a step reflecting the ongoing production collaboration between Cedars Art Production (Sabbah Brothers) and Moroccan drama creators.
The series is produced by Sabbah Brothers, written by Basma El-Hijri, directed by Ayoub Lahoud, and offers an independent Moroccan adaptation that draws on the general idea of the original work with a rephrasing of the events and characters to suit the local context.
Sadek Sabbah: A Moroccan rendition with a new story
Lebanese producer Sadek Sabbah announced in media statements the launch of the Moroccan version, confirming that the work will premiere during the upcoming Ramadan, and that the aim of the project is to present a new story with a Moroccan flavor, while preserving the essence of the original work without replicating it.
Sabbah added that the Moroccan version is the third after the Lebanese and Turkish versions, reflecting the producers' commitment to diversifying the adaptation of the work to suit every audience.
Moroccan stars in a strong ensemble
The series features a cast of prominent Moroccan drama stars, including Asaad Bouab, alongside Heba Benani, Amin Najjar, Noura Skalli, Salwa Zerhane, Osama Bassawi, Nasser Akabab, in addition to a number of other names, ensuring a balanced mix of experience and mass appeal.
The story: The struggle between tradition and power
The events revolve around Yasmine, who returns from Montreal to Morocco to attend her husband's funeral, only to find herself forced to stay in the Ras al-Jabal area with her son, who becomes the heir to a powerful family.
As the story unfolds, Yasmine faces a complex social reality ruled by strict traditions and family conflicts, putting her in increasing challenges to protect her son and adapt to a world she was not prepared for.

The original series "The Prestige" took place in a border village between Lebanon and Syria, and featured a cast of Arab drama stars, including Tim Hassan, Nadine Nassib Njeim, Mona Wassef, Owais Mokhallalati, and Abdo Shahine, and lasted for five consecutive years.
The Turkish version "The Distant City" (Uzak Şehir), meanwhile, relocated its events to the city of Mardin, and achieved high viewership ratings when it was broadcast on the Kanal D channel.
Premiere date
The series "The Peak of the Mountain" is scheduled to air during Ramadan 2026 on MBC5, and will also be available on the "Shahid" digital platform, as part of the Ramadan drama lineup targeted at the Moroccan and Arab audience.
