Khaberni - The Cabinet has decided in its session held today, Sunday, chaired by Dr. Jaafar Hassan, to grant the necessary incentives, exemptions, and facilitations to proceed with the National Water Carrier Project, as it is an important strategic national project, which includes subjecting all forms of project supplies to a general and special sales tax rate or amount of (zero).
The decision comes in light of the intensive measures taken by the government in preparation for the actual commencement of the project next year; given that it is one of the major strategic national projects and a fundamental pillar for achieving national water security, targeting the desalination of 300 million cubic meters annually from the Red Sea waters, with an expected benefit to nearly 4 million citizens.
Under the decision, the government will also bear the income tax, withholding tax, national contribution due, as well as all customs fees, service charges, and the temporary admission of necessary vehicles, machinery, and equipment, similar to previous national projects, notably including the Disi Water Conveyance Project.
