Khaberni - The Australian police said today, Sunday, that they are responding to a shooting incident during a Jewish festival at Bondi Beach in Sydney, which resulted in fatalities and injuries, and they urged the public to avoid the area.
"Sydney Morning Herald" reported that there were several gunshots fired at the famous beach. Informed sources indicated that there were fatalities and injuries in the attack, and Australian media estimated that at least 10 people were killed.
New South Wales Police posted on X, saying, "Those present at the scene should take shelter."
Circulating video clips on X showed people at Bondi Beach scattering at the sound of gunfire and police sirens.
A spokesperson for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said, "We are aware of an ongoing security situation at Bondi. We urge people in the vicinity to follow the information issued by New South Wales Police."
The police confirmed that they have detained two individuals suspected of involvement in the shooting.
The police stated that an armed man was killed by security forces at the scene.
