Entry into Force of the Mutual Visa Waiver Agreement Between Russia and Jordan

Khaberni - Today, Saturday, the mutual visa waiver agreement between the governments of Russia and Jordan, which was signed in Moscow on August 20, has entered into force.

In August 2025, the foreign ministers of Russia and Jordan, Sergey Lavrov and Ayman Safadi, signed an agreement to waive visa requirements between the two countries.

Under this agreement, Russian citizens are now able to enter and stay in Jordanian territory for up to 30 consecutive days per visit, with a maximum of 90 days per year, provided they do not engage in employment, business activities, or studies, or seek permanent residency in Jordan. Conversely, the same regulations apply to citizens of the Kingdom.

Before the coronavirus pandemic, the number of Russian tourists visiting Jordan reached record levels, with approximately 62,000 Russian tourists visiting the kingdom in 2019, making the Russian market a major destination for Jordan. However, after the pandemic, these numbers decreased significantly, as only 24,000 Russian tourists visited Jordan in 2023, nearly three times less than the pre-pandemic level, although it represented a 50% increase from 2022.
