Video Floods Sweep Through an Iraqi School and Students and Teachers Miraculously Survive

Khaberni - Today, Wednesday, one of the primary schools in the district of Chamchamal in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Iraq, witnessed a dramatic scene after the floods invaded the school building.

According to the circulating video, teachers rushed to evacuate the students from the school and helped them to exit safely, as captured by the school's installed CCTV cameras.

Another video captured a dangerous situation as some students were walking alongside the wall of Qandil School when the floodwaters caused the wall to collapse just seconds after they passed, miraculously saving them from certain death.

These incidents come in the wake of the heavy rainstorm that hit the Kurdistan region on Monday, causing floods in several areas, including Chamchamal and Takiya, and leading to water and mud entering many homes, resulting in property damage and forcing residents to move damaged furniture and appliances outside.

The local administration in Chamchamal confirmed the death and injury of six people due to the floods, while the Sulaymaniyah Department of Health has raised readiness levels among immediate response ambulance teams in preparation for any emergencies, and the local administration in Karmian has urged residents to stay indoors until the rainstorm ends.

In response, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, directed to provide assistance to the affected residents, offering condolences to the families of the victims, while the Iraqi presidency expressed solidarity with the affected, confirming that the floods and heavy rains have caused significant human and material losses.

Moreover, the Directorate of Civil Defense in Najaf al-Ashraf has announced its full readiness to face any potential floods coming from the western regions near the Saudi border.
