Khaberni - The Director of the Drug Directorate at the Public Institution for Food and Drug, Rana Malkawi, stated that NAD+ injection preparations have not proven their ability to combat aging.
Malkawi explained in a statement to "Khaberni", on Wednesday, that intravenous injections of the NAD+ product require high medical supervision and preparations.
She pointed out that the injection process requires verification of the patient’s health, noting that these injections contradict patients with kidney and liver diseases, high blood pressure, and pregnant women.
She affirmed that controlled injections are not licensed in Jordan and do not have an approved agent, clarifying that their non-registration at the Public Institution for Food and Drug confirms their unsafe status.
Malkawi also indicated that the Institution has circulated to border crossings to prevent the entry of personal parcels containing NAD+ products.
The institution seized NAD+ injection products, along with other unauthorized injections used in Biohacking practices and intravenous injections of dietary supplements, within an unlicensed beauty center and a pain treatment and palliative care clinic.
The institution confirmed that the inspection teams have confiscated the entire quantities and taken the necessary legal actions against the two facilities, due to the use of violating products not registered with the institution, and for engaging in medical practices outside the legal and medical framework.
Upon tracing the source of these injections, it was revealed that they had entered the kingdom personally with some travelers, and did not enter through formal paths or official channels regulated by the Public Institution for Food and Drug.
This campaign comes as part of a regular and intensified supervisory plan directed by the General Director of the Public Food and Drug Institution, Rana Obaidat, to control violations in the beauty sector and medical clinics, especially practices related to intravenous injections of unregistered substances and supplements that are used in violation of the law.
The institution clarified that surveillance continues around the clock, and it will not be lenient in dealing with any facility or individual that uses or deals in unlicensed products, or engages in any medical activity without a legal license and proper registration.
