Khaberni - In an unusual coincidence, a Chinese woman married the man who saved her from the Wenchuan earthquake more than a decade ago, during a mass wedding ceremony in Changsha city, Hunan province.

In more detail, in 2008, Liang Qi Bin was serving as a soldier at the age of 22 and was involved in the rescue efforts after the devastating earthquake.

During the operation, Liang saved the 11-year-old girl Liu Shimei, who was trapped among iron bars and debris on the second floor of a collapsed building.

It took four hours to extricate her before she was taken to the hospital to receive necessary treatment, then she returned with her family to Guohuo city in Hunan province.

Many years passed without Liu clearly remembering the face of her rescuer, until a fateful meeting in 2020, when she was having dinner with her parents in a restaurant in Changsha.

Her mother noticed a man sitting at the next table who resembled the soldier who had saved her. Liu approached him and asked, "Brother Liang? Is that you?", while Liu felt a mix of excitement and embarrassment, whereas Liang said he did not recognize her immediately due to the significant changes in her features.

Latterly, they began communicating; Liu saved his phone number and shared details of her day with him, and gradually, feelings of love developed between them.

Liu explained that her feelings were not only rooted in gratitude, but over time she discovered that he was the person she could trust her life with.

On his part, Liang expressed his admiration for her positivity and energy, considering her the "beam of light in his life."

At the fifth Han style mass wedding ceremony, 37 couples participated, amid widespread interaction on social media in China, where users described this story as "love emerged from beneath the rubble and ended at the altar," considering it a rare example of fate that brings together the past and present in one life journey.
