Khaberni - The newspaper "The Guardian" has exposed a dispute between Israel and the US based on accusations of the Israeli military monitoring and recording American conversations.
According to the report, the information gathering activities within the center led the commander of the American base, Major General Patrick Frank, to summon his Israeli counterpart for an urgent meeting, during which he informed him that these practices "must stop immediately". The newspaper also mentioned that the US military refused to answer inquiries concerning the details of possible monitoring activities, while the Israeli military refused to comply with Major General Frank's request to stop the recordings, asserting that the conversations at the base "are not secret".
In response, the Israeli military officially replied to the The Guardian report, vehemently denying what it described as "baseless claims", and stated: "The allegation that we are spying on our partners is ridiculous. The Israeli military documents and summarizes the meetings it participates in according to professional protocols, just as any responsible military or security entity would — in an open and transparent manner.
It should be noted that these conversations are classified as non-secret.
Additionally, the spokesperson for the Israeli military said: "Any statement that casts doubts on the Israeli military's commitment to the success of the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC)'s work is baseless, and there are suspicions that the purpose of its publication is to harm the credibility of the headquarters and undermine trust in the intentions of the participating parties — who have contributed, and continue to do, in creating better conditions for the future of the Gaza Strip."
It is worth mentioning that the CMCC, managed in partnership between the United States and Israel, is concerned with coordinating civil aid and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip as part of the ceasefire agreement.
