Khaberni - The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said today, Sunday, that an earthquake of magnitude 6.36 struck Greece.

It added that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, making it a shallow quake capable of causing strong vibrations, and was felt by residents of Athens and the surrounding areas, as well as neighboring countries such as Turkey and Italy.

The Greek authorities, through the National Earthquake Agency, reported that more than 110 minor aftershocks occurred in the previous 24 hours, reflecting intense seismic activity in the region.

This earthquake is part of a series of tremors in Greece during 2025, including a 6.3-magnitude earthquake off Crete in May, and another 6.2-magnitude quake near the Dodecanese Islands in June, highlighting the geological fragility of the Aegean region. "Agencies"
