The International Federation of Association Football "FIFA" announced the schedule for the 2026 World Cup and the stadiums that will host the matches of the 48 participating teams, with significant interest in the Portugal team due to Cristiano Ronaldo's presence.
Portugal has been placed in Group Eleven alongside Uzbekistan and Colombia, in addition to the qualifier from the playoff between Jamaica, New Caledonia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
One of FIFA's notable surprises is the announcement of the stadiums where Ronaldo will play his matches, with the Portugal vs. Colombia match taking place in Miami at the "Hard Rock" Stadium on June 27, although the city was expected to host Argentina led by Lionel Messi.
The Portuguese national team will also take Houston as its base during the tournament, meaning its travels during the group stage will be limited between Houston and Miami only.
Portugal will start its campaign on June 17 facing the winner of the intercontinental playoff between Jamaica, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, or New Caledonia, then it will play against Uzbekistan on June 23 at the "NRG" Stadium before facing Colombia in Miami.
