US President Donald Trump left his mark on the closing of the 2026 World Cup draw.

The group stage draw of the 2026 World Cup, held in Washington, USA, on Friday, was attended by Trump himself.

After the draw and determining the 12 groups for the tournament, Trump performed his famous dance at the end of the event, to the tunes of the song "YMCA".

The American president gained fame for performing this dance to the song "YMCA" during his election campaign and after announcing his victory in the US presidency for a second term, which began earlier this year.

Before the draw, Trump received the first edition of the FIFA Peace Award.

Trump received the medal from Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, after a video was released announcing the decision and listing the mediation efforts led by the American president "to end conflicts in various places around the world".

Infantino, in his speech about the peace agreements brokered by Trump, said: "This is what we want from a leader."

In his brief speech after receiving the award, Trump said: "This is one of the greatest honors of my life," and before that, he stated that he "deserves this honor".

FIFA announced in November last year the creation of this award aimed at rewarding "the enormous efforts made by individuals who unite people and give hope to future generations".
