Khaberni - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan intervened in the divorce decision of the famous singer Sinan Akçıl, postponing his separation from his former wife Burcu Kıratlı for a full year, as revealed by the artist in recent media statements.
In a television interview, Akçıl confirmed that during a meeting they had years ago, Erdoğan advised him saying, "Your divorce might not set a good example for the youth in Turkey," encouraging him to give his marriage another chance.
Akçıl explained that during the meeting, which was attended by Burcu Kıratlı and Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, the president offered him advice he considered "logical," which led him to postpone the decision of separation.
The Turkish artist said: "The president told me we should try again, and that my divorce from Burcu would not be a good example for Turkish youth.. He spoke convincingly, so we gave ourselves another year.. We tried again, but ultimately, it did not work out."
Akçıl's statements, which he made years after the incident, became one of the most discussed topics on social media in Turkey in recent hours, with user comments divided between those who praised Erdoğan's intervention "concerned about the image of the family," and those who saw revealing this story now as raising questions about the artist's motives.
Sinan Akçıl and Burcu Kıratlı have been among the most notable couples covered by the Turkish entertainment press in recent years; they first married on December 24, 2018, in a simple ceremony held at the Turkish consulate in Amsterdam, but their marriage lasted only 9 months and ended in divorce in September 2019.
About 20 days after the separation, the couple gave their relationship a second chance, before they remarried on February 22, 2021, in a large wedding ceremony in Istanbul, which also ended in divorce in 2022.
