Khaberni - An Egyptian lawyer filed a complaint to the Public Prosecutor against the author Ahmed Morad based on his recent statements in which he described making a film about the Prophet Muhammad as easier than making a film about Umm Kulthum.

The complaint stated that these statements represent a stab at the status of the Prophet, by making a comparison between him and a singer.

The lawyer emphasized that these actions fall under Article 98 of the Penal Code, which imposes imprisonment for up to 5 years or a fine on those who exploit religion to promote extremist ideas or show contempt for religions, and that they constitute a violation of the law against cybercrimes.

The lawyer concluded his complaint by demanding the Public Prosecutor to investigate Ahmed Morad on charges of contempt for religion and misuse of the internet, and to issue a travel ban as a preliminary to his prosecution.
