Khaberni - The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, Engineer Ziad Al-Saaydeh, announced that the Board of Commissioners had made a regulatory decision in its session held yesterday, Sunday, to exempt residential sector subscribers from fees for reconnecting electricity for the first time each year, where it becomes valued at (zero), and a fixed fee for subsequent times is set at only (3) dinars, starting from the beginning of December this month.

Engineer Al-Saaydeh emphasized that this decision comes within the framework of diligent follow-up and in-depth study of the observations received from the subscribers, and a direct response to the recommendations of the Parliamentary Energy and Mineral Resources Committee. This decision is part of an institutional approach that reinforces the principle of partnership and prioritizes the regulatory needs of citizens.

Al-Saaydeh added that the decision represents a pivotal step within an integrated reform path adopted by the Authority to update the legislation and procedures regulating the electricity sector, and to reinforce justice and transparency in the fee system. This is based on a precise assessment of the economic and social impact on subscribers, ensuring the protection of their rights and improving the efficiency and sustainability of services.

He explained that the Authority's rapid and balanced response in making the decision reflects its supervisory and regulatory role, and highlights its ability to interact immediately and responsibly with community and parliamentary observations and demands, achieving a balance between the requirements for regulating the sector, protecting the citizen, reducing their burden, and serving the public interest.
