Khaberni - Japanese researchers in a recent study revealed that adopting a simple daily habit could help reduce eye irritation and redness caused by seasonal allergies.

Scientific Reports magazine reported that a recent study showed that a simple habit like regular eye washing can significantly reduce eye irritation and redness caused by seasonal allergies.

The scientists analyzed data from 476 users of the AllerSearch app, including about 70 people who habitually washed their eyes as a preventive measure to alleviate symptoms of seasonal allergies. The results showed that these individuals suffered less from itching, watery eyes, and redness, and were able to spend longer days symptom-free during the allergy season, with a noticeable improvement in their overall health condition. The researchers also confirmed that eye washing did not increase the severity of dry eye symptoms, indicating the safety of this practice.

The researchers indicate that these results support previous recommendations by Japanese ophthalmologists to use eye washing as a gentle measure to combat allergic conjunctivitis, but the new study provides more specific evidence on the benefits of this habit with seasonal allergies. However, the study did not specify the exact number of times to wash eyes daily, or the methods used by the application's users.

The researchers affirmed that while eye washing cannot be considered a substitute for medical treatment, it represents a simple and safe means to alleviate symptoms of seasonal allergies and improve quality of life.
