Khaberni - The Argentine star Lionel Messi led his team, Inter Miami, to their first final in the American Soccer League after securing an overwhelming 5-1 victory against "New York City FC" early Sunday morning.

Argentine Tadeo Allende scored three goals, with fellow countryman, young Mateo Silvetti, and Venezuelan Telasco Segovia adding two goals, to lead the renewed Miami team to the final scheduled for next Saturday at their Fort Lauderdale stadium.

Not only did Inter Miami qualify for the final under Messi's leadership, but they also clinched the title of Eastern Region champions, thereby increasing the number of titles Messi has won with the American team to three since his arrival in 2023.

Although Messi, at 38 years old, did not score any goals, he created a magnificent decisive pass for the third goal scored by Silvetti, which practically ended New York's chances of a comeback.

With that pass, Messi reached 405 decisive passes in his career, topping the list of the world’s leading goal-makers:

  • Messi: 405 decisive passes in 1136 matches.

  • Hungarian Ferenc Puskás: 404 decisive passes.

  • Brazilian Pelé: 369 decisive passes.

Miami will host the Vancouver Whitecaps in the league final next Saturday.

Vancouver, led by former German star Thomas Müller, qualified for the final after a spectacular 3-1 win over San Diego in California, clinching the Western Region title.
