Khaberni - Dublin City Council, the capital of Ireland, has decided to remove the name of Israel’s sixth president, Chaim Herzog, father of the current president, Isaac Herzog, from a park located in the Rathmines district of the city, currently known as "Herzog Park."
The decision was made following demands from pro-Palestinian groups, which have proposed renaming it "Free Palestine Park" or after Hind Rajab, a child who was killed in Gaza during the war and who has become a symbol, according to the Hebrew 'Yedioth Ahronoth'.
The park was established in 1985 as Orwell Quarry Park, and in 1995 it was renamed Herzog Park in celebration of the 3,000th anniversary of the founding of Jerusalem, in honor of Herzog, who was born in Belfast and raised in Dublin.
It should be noted that Ireland recognized the state of Palestine in May of last year and has been highly critical of Israel's war on the Gaza Strip.
