Khaberni - Chinese authorities have announced that BYD is recalling more than 88,000 plug-in hybrid vehicles due to potential risks associated with the batteries, following weeks after the company's biggest recall campaign to date.
According to "Reuters", the Chinese regulator stated in an official notice on Friday that the affected vehicles, model Qin PLUS DM-i, were produced between January 2021 and September 2023, and may experience reduced propulsion power due to inconsistencies in battery packs during the production process.
The authorities added that, in extreme cases, the vehicles could lose the ability to drive entirely on electric mode.
This recall is part of a broader campaign in which BYD is facing a decline in sales and profits, with the company having recalled more than 210,000 vehicles this year, including about 7,000 hybrid SUVs. In mid-October, the company announced its largest recall campaign to date, involving more than 115,000 vehicles of the Tang and Yuan Pro models, produced between 2015 and 2022, due to design flaws and battery-related risks.
